GROUND BREAKING CEREMONY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF KATOOSA MARTYRS SHRINE

The Bishop of the Fort Portal Catholic Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Robert K. Muhiirwa, has officially presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Katoosa Martyrs’ Shrine and handed over the site to the contractor, marking the beginning of a project aimed at promoting faith-based tourism in Western Uganda.
The ceremony, held at Katoosa grounds the birth place of St. Adolf Tibeyalirwa Ludigo one of the Uganda Martyrs, in Kyenjojo District, attracted clergy, government officials, political leaders, and pilgrims from different areas.
Speaking at the event, Jackline Nyiracyiza Besigye, the Acting Commissioner for Museums and Monuments in the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, revealed that the project will cost Ugx 8.5 billion and will be implemented by Shine Afric, with completion expected within 24 months.
